Quick and Easy Bolognese

Quick and easy Bolognese is a rich and hearty meat sauce served over pasta noodles. This recipe gives that deep and rich flavor from traditional Bolognese but in only a fraction of the time.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 medium sized onion diced
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp beef better than bouillon paste (or 1 cube)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Bring 6 cups water to a boil. Cook noodles in salted water per package instructions. Drain.
  • Heat olive oil over medium heat in Dutch oven or large pot. Add the diced onions, carrots and celery and sauté for about 5 minutes until they start to soften. Add in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add in ground beef and cook until the meat is browned, stirring often. Season meat mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Stir in the tomato paste until mixed well. Add in the beef broth, bouillon paste, bay leaves and garlic powder and stir until combined. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in milk and heavy cream until combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and remove the bay leaves. Serve over the pasta of your choice.
